If you’ve been trying to build your booty but haven’t seen much progress, it’s time to look beyond the stereotypical exercises.

Y’all know hip thrusts and deadlifts are the King and Queen of glute exercises, but don’t be fooled - there are in fact, other totally underrated exercises that you should be doing to grow your glutes.

Ready to take your booty building to the next level? Add these exercises to your lower body days and you’ll be well on your way to achieving ultimate booty gainz.

Front Foot Elevated Split Squats

We often hear a lot about bulgarian split squats (where the back foot is elevated), but don’t neglect this variation! This is a unilateral exercise that majorly targets the glutes, as well as the quads, hamstrings and adductors to help give your booty and legs a killer shape. The elevation of the front foot allows for greater range of motion and activation of the glutes.

Frog Pumps

Whilst this exercise may look a little awkward, it is an absolute game changer. Frog pumps are a variation of the classic glute bridge, but by having your feet together, this exercise targets your upper and outer glutes, ultimately giving you a more rounded booty shape.

You can do this exercise with just your body weight, and as you get more comfortable, you can place a dumbbell across your hips for extra resistance.

Side Lunges

Okay, side lunges may be one of the most under-appreciated glute exercises ever! What’s so cool about this exercise is that it targets the side booty muscle, which helps to sculpt a rounded booty shape.

This exercise may feel tricky at first, but I promise, this is one exercise you should be working at. Not only will it help shape your glutes, but will also improve the stability of your glutes and inner thigh muscles.

Good Mornings

Good Mornings are literally one of the best exercises for increasing strength and size of your glutes. Essentially, this exercise is a hip hinge movement (similar to a Romanian Deadlift) that dramatically activates your glutes and hamstrings for optimal growth.

This exercise can be a little tricky, but if you can nail this, not only will your booty be thanking you, but your ability to perform deadlifts and squats will automatically be improved too!

Step Ups

Step ups look a little boring, but honestly, they have the ability to accelerate your booty building progress. The elevation of the step places load onto your glutes to drive your leg up onto the box and then back down again. You can start with your bodyweight and then hold dumbbells to increase the intensity as you progress.

TIP: the lower the step, the more this exercise targets your quads. The higher the step, the more this exercise targets your glutes.

Whilst classic booty building exercises should definitely be part of your workout, these totally underrated exercises may just be what you need to grow the glutes of your dreams.

If you’re looking to shake up your glute routine and get those booty gainz once and for all, be sure to incorporate these surprising exercises into your routine!
