Including Plant Based Meals In Your Diet

You girls all know that I THRIVE off a plant-based lifestyle - all the foods & products that I eat and like to use on the daily support me in more ways than one - and that includes fuelling the gains, looking and FEELING amazing - inside and out! Today, I want to help you understand why adding just a few plant-based meals to your diet each week can be so beneficial!

Completely removing animal products can be a big change in your life, and it can be very daunting to think about. If you can’t see yourself doing this, that is totally okay! However, substituting just a few of your regular meals with plant-based ones could be a great idea, not just for the environment, but for your own personal health too!

By replacing the animal product in your meal with extra vegetables, you are introducing extra colors, vitamins, and minerals into your diet! It can be easy to use meat as the main ingredient in your meals, which can lead to not consuming enough servings of vegetables, and therefore micronutrients. “Fresh We also often get stuck in the rut of choosing the same vegetables in every single meal. Having a wide range of bright and beautiful colors in your diet is so important! Each vegetable and colored vegetables offer different vitamins.

• Magnesium is a mineral that is especially important in those who train with weights as it is a muscle relaxant, helping us to recover and ease our DOMS! You can find magnesium in leafy greens like spinach, as well as broccoli, green beans and avocado.

• Vitamin C is essential for the function of our immune system, meaning that if we have stable levels of Vitamin C all year around we will be less likely to get a cold or the flu during winter. This Vitamin is found in red peppers, kale and tomato.

• Iron is responsible for helping us to carry oxygen throughout our body and a deficiency can lead to anemia. To get extra iron in, make sure you include things like beans and spinach in your diet!

• Potassium is important in keeping a stable blood pressure as well as keeping our body hydrated (it may even help reduce water retention). You can get some extra potassium in your body by consuming potatoes, mushrooms and cooked broccoli. So to get all of the vitamins your body needs we need to be eating allll of the colors!

The benefits that eating more plant-based meals provide will affect your skin, hair and nails just as much as your health. The antioxidants that are found in a wide range of vegetables (for example carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, papaya and spinach) help to protect your skin from cellular damage and promote a healthy skin tone! If you have dry skin, then eating avocados will help provide essential fatty acids which can help to naturally moisturize the skin. Eating cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, kale and cauliflower is a great way to grow your hair and nails, as well as keeping them from going brittle due to their sulphur content! Throw away all of your chemical-filled beauty products and instead begin to include more plant-based meals in your diet, because I promise that you will notice the difference.

I can definitely thank my plant-based diet for the endless energy that I have for the gym! After moving to this lifestyle I noticed the increase in motivation and determination to improve my physique and get a sweat on every day. I no longer use all of my energy at the gym and have zero leftover for the rest of the day. I instead crush my workouts, and feel productive and energized all day long! Getting your vitamins and minerals in consistently makes SUCH a huge difference overall!

Meat-free Monday is such an amazing concept that makes it so easy for people to reduce meat consumption for just one day per week! You can even make a big plant-based lunch to save a serving for dinner too and substitute your 3 pm snack in with a Blessed shake! We are positively impacting the environment with every single plant-based meal we eat, so don’t think that just one day per week won’t make a difference because it will!!
