Ever felt a little self-conscious about your body? You’re not alone.
 
I struggled with a lack of body confidence for years. The way I felt about my body affected the way I lived my life - I’d only wear black clothes because I thought it looked ‘slimming’, I wore baggy shirts and jeans on the beach, I’d never even dare to wear a bikini.

Since then, I’ve come a LONG way. My fitness journey truly helped me transform from the inside, and I’ve learnt to LOVE my body, no matter what. 

Regardless of your shape or size, confidence is beautiful and powerful. Here are my body confidence secrets that have helped me along the way - hopefully it can help you too!

#1 Stop comparing yourself

Comparison truly is the thief of joy - and comparing yourself to others certainly is not going to help your confidence. Everyone has a different body shape, different genetics, different diets and workout routines. Even if you did the exact same thing as someone else, you would still look different to them.

The first step to achieving body confidence is to truly recognise that everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way. Comparing yourself isn’t productive - in fact, it’s destructive. If you tend to compare yourself with others on social media - unfollow them, or simply, limit your time on socials. You do what you need to do!

#2 Practice positive self-talk

No matter how crazy this sounds, I promise, if you start speaking more kindly to yourself, your confidence will improve. Sometimes, we can be our own worst critic. The parts of our bodies we see, often others do not notice. I used to be very critical of myself and have negative thoughts, which all contributed to my lack of confidence.

So how did I change this? I started changing my inner thoughts. Every time I walked past a mirror, I would literally say to myself “you’re beautiful”. I know it sounds cliche, but if you do it often enough, you’ll start to believe yourself. 

#3 Forget what anyone thinks

Although it’s difficult, you need to stop caring about what others think! Other people’s perception about you or your body is irrelevant. If you care about what they think, you are giving them power over how you view yourself. Once you start living life for YOU and do what makes you feel happy and comfortable, your confidence will start to grow in all areas of your life. 

#4 Do what makes you feel beautiful

You gotta treat yourself, girls! Do whatever makes YOU feel beautiful. That could be getting your nails done, hair done, putting some makeup on, buying some new clothes, hanging out with friends - whatever it may be, incorporate those things into your life on a daily basis. Whilst body confidence absolutely comes from within, sometimes those external things can help give you the little boost you need!

I have been able to transform my own mindset over the years through making these small changes to my life. Confidence is something you have to work at, but I promise, you CAN achieve body confidence, just like I have!
